Nordic Hotel Forum

Summer is about gone and soon the pleasant outdoor times will be over. That is why you are invited to enjoy the first days of autumn in our lobby bar. It is a great place to enjoy a glass of light lambrusco with some delicious desserts while sharing memorable moments from the past summer and making plans for a long and dark winter. It is perhaps too early to talk about Christmas, but we would like to already inform you, before you are invited to join us at our splendid three-course Christmas dinner, that it will be carefully crafted by our chef Oleg Alasi. Likewise, we would gladly assist you in organising a joyful Christmas party.

Wishing you a great start of autumn,
Feliks Mägus
Chairman of the Board, Nordic Hotels OÜ

Chef to surprise with sweet treats

Oleg Alasi, our hotel chef, has a nice way to come up with some pleasant surprises for his customers and colleagues alike.

Autumn will be here soon with its cold winds, and pleasant outdoor gatherings will soon be a distant memory. But there’s no reason to worry – come to our lobby bar this September.

In addition to comfortable, deep-seated lounge chairs and an open fire, we will cheer you up with some truly exquisite desserts that our chef has prepared in partnership with the Flavours of Estonia programme. As a farewell to the summer, we will be offering light lambrusco picked by the Veinisõber company, which is renowned for their wine expertise. Sipping this summery drink will give you a great opportunity to recall all the enjoyable events of the past summer.

Sounds appealing? If yes, come on and enjoy the first autumn days of September with delicious desserts and light lambrusco in our lobby bar.
Awarded again

In the framework of the Baltic Ambassador programme, Nordic Hotel Forum was chosen as one of the five finalists for the Best of Baltic Award.

It should be noted that the Baltic Ambassador is not some person who just lines up the travel destinations that he happens to like. It is a programme to promote the very best destinations in the Baltic Sea region. The Baltic Ambassador has partnered with hundreds of trip and event organisers whom various destinations across the Baltics are introduced; they in turn evaluate these destinations. The evaluation criteria include, for example, ‘excellence in touring’, ‘price and quality ratio’, and ‘representative of local culture’.
We were able to impress the evaluators in all these categories. We are very pleased with our latest recognition and we pledge to make our greatest effort to surprise you only in a positive way!
Tallinn International Horse Show held for the tenth time!

This October, the Tallinn International Horse Show will be taking place in Saku Suurhall. From 5 to 7 October, this truly spectacular equestrian festival will feature several high-level international equestrian events and horse shows to be concluded with the main discipline of this World Cup Event - Alexela Grand Prix. But this is not all – in addition to the best European horses and riders going up against each other, the Tallinn International Horse Show is also a venue to enjoy top-level entertainment and, as a tradition, this does not exclude even the youngest visitors.

We wish many happy returns to the Tallinn International Horse show on their 10-year anniversary and pledge to promote the growth of Estonian equestrian tradition because Nordic Hotel forum sees it as an important part of our culture!
Art Museum surprising with avant-garde from 1920s

Our long-term partner, the Estonian Art Museum, has prepared an exciting array of exhibitions for this year. The most surprising of them is definitely the one that opened last August and showcases the works of avant-garde Estonian Artists Group active in 1920-1930s.

The times, 90 years ago, were momentous on many levels: World War I, which shook up the entire world, had just ended thereby giving life to new nations, Estonia among them. It felt like all the old was lost and something totally unknown, new and modern was about to happen. The same sentiment carried over to figurative arts, literature and design as well.

Many think that great art is made only in Paris and other metropolises, but actually the Estonian artists from the twentieth century did not fall behind by any means. It is well demonstrated by this exhibition, displaying the modernist worldview of our artists in furniture design, theatrical design and elsewhere.

You are invited to visit the exhibition and to share your impressions in our lobby bar afterwards. If necessary, we will gladly help with accommodation!
Design Night back again!

Yellow leaves are not the only beautiful thing that September brings. On 20 to 23 September, the Design Night organised by the Estonian Association of Designers will come to pass again, this year for the seventh time.

This year, the Design Night, energising the entire Estonian design scene, is summed up by the slogan “Design Matters” - meaning that the focus is placed on tangible things that have improved our everyday environment. The event offers various seminars, displays, competitions and workshops, and features world-renown designers from Estonia and abroad. The Design Night venues are located throughout the city – the Rotermann Centre next to our hotel as well as the Estonian Design House hosting the Design Night Club.

The main event of the Design Night, the Estonian Design Awards Ceremony, will be held at the Tallinn Seaplane Harbour, a place already mentioned in our last newsletter. In a fittingly spectacular building of Seaplane Harbour, awards will be given out in the product design, graphic design and service design categories. The gala night will also feature a fashion show from Oskar Metsavaht, the worldwide-known fashion designer with Estonian roots.

We are very pleased about Estonian design being in the limelight, since everyone visiting our hotel instantly understands just how much we value what we put in it!
