Dear friends,

Although Valentine’s Day may have been one of the coldest days this winter, it certainly warmed our hearts! The days are already growing noticeably longer and the sun is rising higher in the sky – both of which mean spring is not far off! That said, there’s no sign of winter going anywhere just yet… This year, the traditional Estonian holiday called ‘Vastlapäev’ (widely known around the world as Pancake Day) falls on 8 March, which is also International Women’s Day – a day that is being marked more and more. Nordic Hotel Forum would like to invite all those celebrating Pancake Day and Women’s Day to the Monaco restaurant on 8 March to enjoy our ‘Vastlapäev Express’. Whether you stop by before you head out to go sledding or pop in after, bring your friends and see you there!

Nordic Hotel Forum wishes everyone a happy Pancake Day!

Pancake Day, known locally as ‘Vastlapäev’, falls this year on 8 March. According to Estonian folk wisdom, if you go sledding on this day and manage a good, long run, it will bode well for your grain crops, your milking cows, the woolly coats of your sheep and a successful year generally. So get your friends and family together and sled for success! And afterwards, why not come and treat yourselves to our special three-course Pancake Day menu at the Monaco restaurant?

Tallinn Music Week!

Tallinn Music Week, Estonia’s biggest music festival, starts again on 24 March 2011 and will give lovers of jazz, folk, hard rock, indie, punk and modern dance music the chance to check out the latest developments on the local music scene for two nights throughout the city’s clubs, bars and concert halls. The festival is set to provide a cross-section of fantastic talent not only from Estonia, but also Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia and as far afield as Canada! More than 100 bands will be performing in total.

Tallinn Music Week draws around a hundred big names in the music industry to Estonia, and in addition to the festival a conference on the present and future of the music industry will be held at Nordic Hotel Forum on 25 & 26 March. The conference will focus primarily on new business models and clever marketing in the music industry, as well as taking a closer look at the role of international music managers.

Enjoy discovering new talent. The festival programme and information about the bands can be found online at www.tallinnmusicweek.ee
